Common Reading Invited Lecture by Natalie Diaz, Poet and Author

A reading by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and author Natalie Diaz will be the Common Reading Invited Lecture event for 2021-22. The reading will include a question-and-answer session plus a book signing. Diaz received the international Pulitzer Prize for Original Verse for her book Postcolonial Love Poem. Her poem, “American Arithmetic,” is featured in this year’s Common Reading book, Tales of Two Americas. A member of the Gila River Indian Community, Diaz is an associate professor at Arizona State University and was born in Needles, Calif. She earned her MFA in poetry and fiction, as well as her undergraduate degree, from Old Dominion University. Co-sponsor of the reading is the Dept. of English’s Visiting Writer Series. The presentation will be live-streamed for all campuses thanks to sponsorship by the WSU Global Campus.
