Common Reading Invited Lecture, VWS Event: A Reading by Natalie Diaz, Poet and Author
February 9, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
An online reading by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and author Natalie Diaz will be the Common Reading Invited Lecture event for 2021-22, followed by a question-and-answer session. Diaz received the coveted Pulitzer Prize for Original Verse in 2021 for her book Postcolonial Love Poem. One of her poems, “American Arithmetic,” is featured in this year’s Common Reading book, Tales of Two Americas. A Mojave and member of the Gila River Indian Community, Diaz is an associate professor at Arizona State University and was born in Needles, Calif. She earned her MFA in poetry and fiction, as well as her undergraduate degree, from Old Dominion University. Co-sponsor of the reading is the Dept. of English’s Visiting Writer Series. The presentation will be live-streamed for all campuses. Watch online at the Visiting Writers Series YouTube channel.
