“Fantasyland” Author Kurt Andersen (Guest of Foley Institute)

October 4, 2018 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Kurt Andersen, author of the bestselling book Fantasyland: How America Went Haywire, will speak about the crumbling border between opinion and fact in America in the age of fake news. The United States has widely divergent opinions from the rest of the world when it comes to issues such as evolution, gun control, and climate change, among many others. Andersen will address how has this happened, and why Americans are so prone to fantastical thinking. Sponsored by the WSU Foley Institute of Public Policy and Public Service, the School of Politics, Philosophy, and Public Affairs, and the departments of History and English. Verification of attendance for the Common Reading will be available.
