James Meredith presents “The fight for equality then and now”

The Foley Institute is pleased to present civil rights icon James Meredith, who will discuss his personal experiences fighting for equal rights and his view of the struggle today. Meredith was the first black student to integrate the University of Mississippi in 1962.  In 1966, he was shot while leading the Mississippi March Against Fear.  He has spent the decades since fighting for equality, speaking, and writing about his experiences, Mississippi and American history.
