Paula Young Shelton workshop on “Teaching Social Justice in the Elementary Classroom”

Paula Young Shelton, the daughter of Civil Rights activist Andrew Young, is an early childhood educator and the author of the children’s book Child of the Civil Rights Movement. This award-winning book presents a child’s view of participating in the Civil Rights Movement, including the historic march from Selma to Montgomery.  Ms. Shelton commitment to enriching the lives of young children has taken her to diverse teaching positions in East Africa, the public housing projects of Atlanta, elite neighborhoods in New York City, and the culturally diverse communities of Washington, DC.
