Award-winning science journalist Michelle Nijhuis is a contributing editor at High Country News and project editor at The Atlantic Monthly. Her most recent book, Beloved Beasts: Fighting for Life in an Age of Extinction, won the Sierra Club’s 2021 Rachel Carson Award and was selected by the Chicago Tribune as one of the 10 Best Books of 2021.
