Soonish Sustainable City Projects: Displays by SOE 110 students

December 6, 2018 @ 2:50 pm - 4:05 pm

Presented in Ensminger Pavilion

Cities are complex systems of energy, food, water, people, and infrastructure. Cities house most of the world’s population and are places where many decisions about the environment occur. Many people in cities may live their entire lives without leaving their urban setting, perhaps not even realizing how connected their health and well-being are to the ecosystem outside, and sometimes even within, the urban area. Energy, water, and food quality as well as accessibility vary from city to city, and local and regional environmental conditions can have a large impact on how a city functions and how it plans for future sustainability.

Come and see poster presentations by School of the Environment students in SOE 110 that showcase a semester’s worth of research, analysis, systems thinking, and planning for solutions for many of the world’s mega-cities. It will be a wonder of “soonish” possibilities that may improve and/or ruin everything! Verification of attendance at this Common Reading event will be available.
