Recorded Talk: Student Kristian Gubsch on the 2019 COP25 U.N. Climate Summit

March 24, 2020 - May 8, 2020

To participate in this asynchronous event, first watch the close-captioned, recorded presentation hosted on Zoom. Then, verify your attendance using our Qualtrics form that has been set up for this purpose. NOTE: You can participate in this asynchronous event any time by the end of dead week.

WSU senior Kristian Gubsch is one of a handful of students selected from across the United States to travel to Madrid, Spain, for the December 2019 COP25 United Nation’s Climate Action Summit.  Gubsch acted as a “student professional correspondent’ representing the American Chemical Society, helping promote climate science literacy among college and university students. In this presentation, Gubsch shares his experience at the COP25 summit, and highlights the issue of climate refugees within the larger topic of climate change.

He will shares with students his WSU experience with undergraduate research and distinguished scholarships. In December he learned that he was selected as WSU’s very first Marshall Scholar, an award that will take him the United Kingdom’s University of Sheffield for graduate study in climate science. It is his third distinguished scholarship as a WSU student. Cosponsored by Common Reading and Distinguished Scholarships Program.
