Artist and Alumnus Michael Schultheis: Opening Reception and Musical Performance at Schnitzer Museum of Art

January 24, 2019 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Artist and WSU alumnus Michael Schultheis (’90 B.A. Economics, Honors College) finds dynamic synergies between the languages of mathematics and art. An economist and mathematician, with experience in both academic and corporate worlds, Schultheis employs analyatical formulae within his paintings and sculptures. His art bridges mathematics, science, technology, and the visual arts. It has been widely exhibited and is part of the collection of the National Academy of Sciences. Schultheis will talk about his work at the opening, accompanied by musical pieces inspired by his art. Verification of attendance available. (Common Reading credit will be provided for students who view the exhibit at any time during spring semester as well.)
