Other Worlds: Exoplanets, Other Planets Outside Our Solar System (a Planetarium Sky Tour)

March 18, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

This presentation in WSU’s full-dome planetarium will explore the topics of exoplanets: planets that orbit stars other than the sun. This area of space exploration continues to grow at a rapid rate; the first exoplanet wasn’t discovered until 1995, but the number will reach 4,000 known exoplanets in 2019. This sky tour will answer questions like: What exoplanets are the biggest? The nearest to their stars? Nearest to the earth? Are any of them habitable? The answer to these questions and more will be provided as WSU astronomers give an update on the exciting search for planets outside the solar system. Come see space in a whole new way, as well as become acquainted with this fascinating campus resource. Verification of attendance available; note seating is limited to 60. (This special showing is free for WSU students.)
